Tom van der Grinten is Professor Emeritus of Health Policy and Organization at the Department of Health Policy and Management of Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He studied economics and sociology at the University of Amsterdam. His research is focused on the institutional factors influencing policymaking in public health and health care, with particular interest in the significance of the public–private– professional dependencies. He is the author of many articles and contributions to books on the subjects of health policy and organization. Tom van der Grinten sat on the editorial board of various scientific journals and of national and international bodies for research, development, and policymaking in the field of public health and health care. Among other responsibilities, he chairs the advisory council for the Dutch Inspectorate on Health Care, is a member of the advisory council for the Health Care Insurance Board (CVZ), and the scientific council for Health Forecast 2014.
