Kor Grit is an economist and philosopher. He received his PhD in philosophy from the University of Groningen in 2000. He has written books in Dutch about the advance of economic discourse and dilemmas of health-care managers. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Health Policy and Management, Erasmus University, Rotterdam. His current research includes studies of patient participation, solidarity, and ethical aspects of health-care markets. Recent publications examine the role of patient organizations in the Dutch neo-corporatist model of participation (Health Expectations), undocumented migrants (Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law) (JHPPL), performance indicators (Public Administration), and the possibilities of strengthening the position of patients with the aid of new financial instruments, such as personal health budgets (Journal of Medical Ethics).
