Christer Nordlund is Professor of History of Science and Ideas at the Department of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies at Umeå University. He is an historian focusing on the cultural, material, and intellectual history of science, technology, medicine, and the environment from 1800 onwards, mainly in a Scandinavian context. He has also taken an interest in current science policy and theories of research organization and cooperation. Nordlund has been a Visiting Scholar at Uppsala University, the University of Cambridge, and Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin. He was Torgny Segerstedt Pro Futura Scientia Fellow at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) in Uppsala 2007–14 and is currently directing the interdisciplinary research group Umeå Studies in Science, Technology and Environment (USSTE) at Umeå University. Nordlund’s most recent books are Vägar till vetenskapen (ed.) (Santérus Förlag, 2013), and Motorspriten kommer! (co-authored) (Gidlunds, 2014). He is currently exploring the intellectual history of creativity.
